Integrative Health Education

Integrative health education is what happens in every session with clients.  I blend a variety of modalities and techniques in order to best address the physical, emotional and spiritual needs during a session.
I transition from one modality to another in a fluid manner, assessing how the body responds .  Each session is uniquely tailored to address the current needs and goals of the massage session.  Every session includes a pre-and post assessment.

 Reiki
Reiki is a Japanese form of energy work that cleanses and balances the energy system in the body. As a result, the body's natural self-healing mechanisms strengthen, helping to establish optimum health. During a session, I work directly with your energy  to remove blockages, detoxify your system, and restore your vital life force energy. Reiki utilizes a gentle laying on of hands to conduct the necessary energy force between us. The benefits of Reiki range from the release of habitual mental/emotional stress to alleviating chronic pain.

Shiatsu
Shiatsu massage is an art of using finger pressures on different areas of the human anatomy to promote and enhance a healthy condition both physically and emotionally. Acupressure techniques are used in a shiatsu massage. Range of motion stretches and joint manipulations are  also used to ease stiffness and release bound muscles.  This type of massage therapy originated and was developed in Japan as an alternative and complementary medicine similar to other methods of massage therapies. It traces back its roots from the traditional Chinese medicine combined with acupuncture techniques.
This massage is done fully clothed, loose fitting, non binding clothing is best.

Swedish

Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. I use organic Jojoba oil and organic essential oils  with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility.

LaStone Massage
Hot and cold  Stone Therapy is a style of massage where stones are placed at specific sites on your body to deepen relaxation and promote circulation in your muscles. Muscles that are heated with these stones release tension and stress much more deeply and quickly than with a traditional massage. Cold stones are used when inflammation is present or when we wish to alternate with hot stones for a tonifying  effect. The overall experience is very relaxing, nurturing, and rejuvenating.  A full LaStone massage takes a minimum of 90 minutes.  I do incorporate hot stones in some way in almost every massage but that differs from a LaStone massage, where the stones are central to the session.

CranioSacral
CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle yet powerful technique that is effective in releasing neck pain, back pain, and mental stress (among other things). It does this by optimizing the movement of cerebrospinal fluid through the spine and around the skull.  This therapy provides a very soothing and relaxing healing experience.

Pregnancy Massage
Pregnancy Massage is a style of bodywork designed specifically for pregnant women. Pregnancy is a time when a woman's body endures tremendous stress due to dramatic physical and emotional changes. Using various techniques specially developed for the expecting mother, Pregnancy Massage helps release the pain and discomfort experienced throughout pregnancy. The benefits are profound, including emotional support, the relief of joint pain due to extra weight and postural imbalance, and improved breathing and relaxation.
